He spent the next four years in Sri Lanka and the United States, gaining a deep understanding of occupational and environmental medicine, Ayurveda, sonopuncture and laser therapy, acupuncture. and homeopathy. He obtained both a doctorate in acupuncture and a doctorate in philosophy in traditional / oriental medicine in 1992.
