Specialty Accessories Store Gives Extra Thrills to the Madison Community

MADISON, Wisconsin – For most people, Halloween ends at midnight on November 1. For others, however, it’s a year-round affair.

Enter the Winslow. Since 2006, husband and wife team BJ and Eileen have run Dapper Cadaver, a specialty accessories store with a knack for the odd.

Last year, the duo moved the store from its original frontage to Hollywood Blvd. in California to the west side of Madison. Eileen, from Milwaukee, says the community has been welcoming and the crew who are committed to helping bring the fantastic to life, even better.

We really love the community here, we have found a really great team, ”she said.

According to BJ, the store has even been successful in attracting employees from out of state.

If you’ve ever heard of the phrase “skeletons in the closet,” well, they’re certainly no stranger to these.

“At one point we had hundreds of gravestones in our garage,” Eileen said.

One thing is for sure though: it’s never a boring day at work.

“Some days you do 250 hands, but the next day you have a dinosaur wedding,” BJ said.

The duo have also worked on some fairly high profile projects in the media world, providing a mannequin for the latest James Bond film as well as various other props for shows like American Horror Story, True Blood and What We Do In The Shadows. .

Beyond the scary and the fantastic, Dapper Cadaver also works with first responders and medical institutions, providing them with training supplies like injured mannequins. For Eileen, it’s the best of both worlds.

“I feel so grateful that I can both entertain people and also help save lives,” she said.

The store offers its Weird Wonders for purchase or rental, and they are currently offering Madison residents a discount with the code “MADISON20” on their website.
