San Francisco Advantage Helps Bring Hope and Advice to Breast Cancer Patients
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) – A San Francisco plastic surgeon is leading an effort to educate breast cancer patients and give them hope and advice.
Dr. Karen Horton says many breast cancer patients are unaware of their options after diagnosis or cannot afford reconstructive surgery.
This benefit aims to help these women.
“Breast reconstruction is so important. This is such an important trip or part of the trip for women who are dealing with breast cancer, because when a breast, uh, needs to be removed is the whole breast, which means mastectomy for breast cancer. , or when part of the breast is removed from a lumpectomy, then we really want to help restore the breast prosthesis, ”said Dr. Karen Horton.

“We are having a virtual fashion show where two of my patients model a beautiful line of lingerie designed for women facing changes in their bodies, such as breast cancer. The name of the line is called Ever Violet and was created by a breast cancer survivor herself. Her name is Kira Kotler, ”continued Horton. “Helping a woman maintain her sense of femininity, being able to wear clothes and, you know, flood a swimsuit. And for women who have already lost a breast by restoring the breast prosthesis, and this has immeasurable benefits. It just helps them feel whole again. And it helps them move forward as much as possible after their breast cancer diagnosis. “
