McCarthy completes Chandler Regional Medical Center Tower D

McCarthy Construction Companies and Devenney Group Architects recently completed Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center’s new patient care tower, Tower D. Designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the growing East Valley community, it marks the second major expansion of the hospital in less than a decade. Tower D is expected to open its doors to patients in early August 2021.

Tower D will serve as the main entrance to the hospital and will contain 96 additional care beds. This will bring Chandler Regional’s total bed count to 429, providing greater access to excellent and compassionate care. The impressive structure includes:

First floor: a new main entrance to the hospital and a new hall, patient admission, cardiac rehabilitation, outpatient therapy unit, gift shop and chapel

Second floor: a surgery registration area, preoperative and post-anesthetic care units and 24 thoracic patient rooms

Third floor: 36 intensive care unit patient rooms

Fourth floor: 36 standard rooms

Fifth floor: shell space for future beds

Basement: new pharmacy, material management service and new loading dock

In addition to the new five-story Tower D, the construction project also includes a new parking structure with additional above ground parking to accommodate over 1,100 vehicles and renovations to the existing space that will allow eight new halls. operation and expansion of the main ambulatory care centers. operational departments and departments.

The design-build team will remain on site until spring 2022 as they complete renovations to the existing spaces as well as the garden that serves as a connector to the growing healthcare campus.

Chandler Regional opened in 1961 as a true community hospital with only 42 beds, but has grown steadily over the past 5 decades. In the summer of 2014, Chandler Regional opened the first of its major expansions in the past decade, Tower C, which provided space for the hospital’s Level 1 trauma center and an additional 96 beds for patients.
